Library Hosting American Red Cross Day

March 11, 2011

In light of American Red Cross Month, the Brielle Public Library will be hosting a day in honor of the organization.

This Tuesday, March 15, an open house, featuring representatives of the American Red Cross, will be held at the library, with various activities for local residents.

The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Representatives from American Red Cross will have various displays set up at the library covering topics including human and pet CPR and first aid, fall prevention, family care and disaster preparedness.

In the afternoon, “Scrubby the Bear,” a mascot for the American Red Cross, will join in for a sing-along with the children, while teaching them the importance of washing their hands.
There will also be coloring books for children, literature, handouts, demonstrations and more.

On March 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., the library will also host an open house specifically designated for young babysitters who recently completed a babysitting training course through American Red Cross.
The newly certified babysitters will be able to meet with parents living in the area that are looking for possible babysitters.
Parents can come to the babysitting open house by themselves or with their young children.

Refreshments will be served on March 12.

The Brielle Public Library is located at 610 South Street.
For more information, please call the library at 732-528-9381.
