A Fun-filled February For Riverview Seniors

February 16, 2011

The Riverview Seniors of Brielle are having a very eventful and fun-filled February. Here are some of their upcoming events for the remainder of the month.

• Tomorrow, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m., the Riverview Seniors will host its monthly luncheon.
The speaker will be Joseph Bilby, who will tell stories from his recent book, “New Jersey Goes to War: Biographies of 150 New Jerseyans Caught up in the Struggle of Civil War, including Soldiers, Civilians, Men, Women, Heroes, Scoundrels — and a Heroic Horse.”
Mr. Bilby is the author and, or editor of 13 books and more than 300 articles on New Jersey and military history.
He is a columnist for the Civil War News and is currently assistant curator of the National Guard Militia Museum of New Jersey, in Sea Girt.

• On Monday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m., the Riverview Seniors will host the monthly Movie Matinee.
This month’s movie will be a seven Oscar winner, “The Sting” — where two 1930s Chicago grifters, starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman, organize a big con to fleece a vicious racketeer.
According to the Riverview Seniors, the movie will be filled with “suspense, wit, great music, crisp dialogue, superb acting” and “is one of Hollywood’s all-time greats.”

• On Thursday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m. the program Coffee and Conversation will be held at the home of Carl and Jessie Eubank, 45D Mountain Laurel Lane, Brielle.
The Riverview Seniors encourage attendance at this event, in order to make it a success.

• On Monday, Feb. 28, at 10:15 a.m., the program, Book Worms, will feature “Where River Turns to Sky,” by Gregg Kleiner.
The Riverview Seniors said reviews called the book “soaring, funny, heartwarming novel,” “insightful, poignant, lovingly told,” “about senior citizens who are full of piss and vinegar,” and “will make you want to sing, dance, shout out the window that life can be grand.”
The Riverview Seniors invite all to come to the program, whether or not they have read the book.
Coffee and pastries will be served.

• Please call Stew at 732-528-8344 for more information on Riverview Exercise, which provides good exercise, good fun, and a chance to socialize.
